Today we went swimming in our clothes to find out what it would feel like if we accidentally fell into a swimming pool, river or in any water. We had to take off our goggles as we most likely would not be wearing them. We practiced calling for help and floating on our backs.
What a lovely bunch!
We were awesome at doing this!
Help call the girls.
Great floating Madi
Look Mum I can float on my back without goggles! Way to go Kobe.
Madi floating
Tasmyn you look so relaxed.
Jack is finding the pool cold as Marco calls for help.
Today we learnt hockey skills with Matt from Sport HawkesBay. We learnt how to hold the hockey stick, to dribble and to turn left and right. We ended by playing a game mine field.
We made our own play dough in room 1. We took turns measuring, pouring, stirring and kneading the dough. It was warm and fun to play with.
When I play with play dough I am strengthening my hand and finger muscles and developing language communication and social skills. I can role-play using my imagination, watch, listen and create.
Dough play develops pre-math, pre- reading and pre- writing skills.
Room 1 were the first children in the school to enjoy the new swings, Mr Fox had only just hung them! A big thank you to the Parent League for providing these for the junior school.
