Humpty Dumpty's Fate

As part of our Nursery Rhyme topic we looked at Humpty Dumpty and had to make an hypothesis (we learnt this was a fancy science name for guess) as to how tall we could build a wall and let him fall off before he broke.

We used hard boiled eggs for Humpty and made walls using duplo blocks, large plastic blocks and wooden blocks.

Poor Humpty did not survive any blocks high without breaking, so our answer to our hypothesis was 0.  However we then wanted to see how high we could take Humpty Dumpty on our walls till his guts came out, this was great fun!

Next we went to the grass and the sandpit and repeated our experiment.  We discovered that sand was the best landing and Humpty Dumpty could survive Miss Shine dropping him but not Mrs Douglas.

Rainy Day Blow Out!

Today we decided to give the children a blow out hour as we have been inside so much this week.  We put out a range of art / craft activities and out door play.

It was great to see the children use their imaginations with the puff paint, this could be fun to make in the holidays.  To make puff paint you need equal quantities of PVA glue, shaving foam, mix to form peaks then colour as desired ... fun, fun, fun!

Royal Banquet

Today we had a Royal Banquet, what a feast!!  We decided last week at Discovery Time to have a Royal Banquet as our letter of the week was `Q' for Queen.

We all brought a plate of yummy food to share and we made Royal Puddings.

Some of us chose to dress up for the Royal Party.

We look forward to Discovery Learning again in term 4.

Book Character Day
